Of course, he didn’t invent lektrit-city. He merely called attention to it. Not that it was unknown at the time. But it was not widely known. At any rate, the value of Franklin’s escapade is that it brought something that was esoteric to the attention of everyone. Post Franklin is the time when lectric-city was studied by everyone and their brother. Hence understanding. Hence circuitry. Hence the InterTubes.
