Republicans Issue Obnoxious Statement

… regarding the Franken-Coleman Recount.

Remember Norm Coleman declaring victory over and over again when he was a couple of hundred votes ahead, prior to the recount? Remember Norm Coleman declaring that the only right thing to do was for Franken to simply withdraw from the race?

The RNC has issued this statement:

WASHINGTON, Dec. 30 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Robert M. “Mike” Duncan announced the following statement tonight.

“Al Franken’s declarations of victory are as inaccurate as they are premature. This recount has taken some time and we won’t know a winner for weeks to come. And, when a winner finally does emerge, we are confident it will be Norm Coleman.

“During this process, Minnesotans have shown a great amount of patience and respect; Al Franken and Washington Democrats should follow their lead and do the same.”

Franken’s campaign has not declared victory. They simply said that it looks like they might win, but they still want the rest of the votes (not a cherry picked subset of the votes) counted.

This statement will pretty much be ignored, but I thought you might enjoy it.

So Franken’s declarations of victory of premature, but they’re confident the winner is Coleman? Got it!

I think the whole thing really emphasizes that we need more comedians as politicians–or at least that we need to institute a test for basic understanding of irony as part of the filing process.

The real news would be if the Republicans issued a statement that wasn’t obnoxious.

This struggle is bring out their true colors: Franken, as with most comedians, expresses his thoughts articulately and with wit, and views the world with skepticism and irony. Coleman, on the other hand, is uninspiring and plodding, and is best known for being a lapdog and a yes-man for the dumbest, the laziest, and arguably the most dishonest president in US History.

JayMagoo, people also forget that Franken is a Harvard-trained economist, as well as a comedian/satirist.

Coleman is a Uni of Iowa-trained lawyer, well-studied by biologists to learn how he can change his colors as quickly as a chameleon. He never looks for irony, he only looks for opportunity. For Norm. (He also looks for a lot of “strange,” if you catch my drift.)

I should clarify that I am not disparaging the University of Iowa’s law school. I am not disparaging Iowa in any means, shape or form. IU just isn’t Harvard, is all.

I really have nothing bad to say about Iowa, period. If it weren’t for Iowa supporting Minnesota, we would start sliding down the Miississippi towards…Mississippi. The governor is all ready trying to make our education system look more like Mississippi’s, but we certainly don’t want geographic proximity to Miss.

(Yeah, I’m going to Jackson, and that’s a fact.)

So, why did they start using Astroturf at the U. of Iowa football field??????

No, no, let’s not get into the Iowa jokes ….
