Australian Schools to offer new take on god

Posted on: December 13, 2008 4:04 PM, by Greg Laden

Imagine the following multiple choice question in a primary education setting:

God ...

a) is all powerful;
b) is everywhere;
c) loves me and my kitten;
d) is vengeful;
e) does not appear to exist.

And the answer is ....

... 'e' ... god does not appear to exist!

The Humanist Society of Victoria has developed a curriculum for primary pupils that the state government accreditation body says it intends to approve...

Accredited volunteers will be able to teach their philosophy in the class time allotted for religious instruction...

As with lessons delivered by faith groups, parents will be able to request that their children do not participate.

"Atheistical parents will be pleased to hear that humanistic courses of ethics will soon be available in some state schools," Victorian Humanist Society president Stephen Stuart said.

The Australians are so silly ... "Atheistical" instead of "Atheistic." I suppose it depends on what primer you've read.

Story here, hat tip: Virgil Samms.
