Frosty Says "Coal is Totally Clean!"

Category: Politics
Posted on: December 17, 2008 7:31 AM, by Greg Laden

"There must have been some magic in clean coal technology; for when they looked for pollutants there was nearly none to see"

Huh?

Do you know "Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me!"? If not, discover it. NPR, weekends. But go to the gym and work out your core body first because otherwise you might hurt yourself laughing.

Anyway, one of the routines they do is to describe three (or four?) unbelievable stories ... items in the news ... all but one of which is in fact not true. The contestant (oh, did I mention that this is a sort of game show?) has to determine which of the unbelievable store is is real.

Last weekend, one of the unbelievable stories consisted of the words to the song in the video below. The contestant had to determine whether or not it was true that the Coal Industry has produced an advertizing bit with a song done to the tune of "Frosty the Snowman" ... but retitled "Frosty the Coal Man."

Remarkably, this is real.

Seriously? OK, that's it, I'm convinced - I never came down off that bad acid trip ten years ago. It's the only viable explanation.

Listened to this episode while driving around the other day, so I really couldn't decide whether to drive, laugh, or pick my jaw up off the floor.

Just the song? No video featuring a backup chorus line of mine workers wheezing along to the music? Talk about a lost opportunity!
