I plan to write a couple of posts about the many interesting sessions we had at Science Online 09, in particular regarding issues of gender, race, pseudonymous (and anonymous) blogging, as well as the problems bloggers may encounter when their blog conflicts with their boss's version of reality.

The above photo is an example of a pseudonymous and anonymous blogger GrrrrrrlScientist and blogger Kevin Zelnio at the "Nature Blogging" session.

Actually her head really is a swirling vortex of doom.

Ouch, Grrl's cold sore looks painful. Does she have to use an analgesic cream for that?

Clever and subtle. Everyone knows that in real life, Grrl's face is swirled counter-clockwise.

Depends on what hemisphere she's in.

Yes, you are being quite clever in your disguises for the psueds/anons.

Greg: You (and GrrlScientist) do realize that deswirling is actually fairly trivial, since the information loss is minimal? Better to have thrown a Gaussian blur or something else destructive over the swirl before posting...

It was great meeting you at the conference. Your input for the Race and Science session was very insightful Until later.

Brian: OK, go ahead and de-swirl the face! There will be a big surprize for you!!!!
