A scientist believing in karma? tsk tsk
If only it worked that way…
A scientist believing in karma?
It’s a handy term for an old observation on social dynamics.
And, anyway, it’s not true.
You can take from others for you own gain, and give nothing back, and still succeed. All you have to do is to trick them into thinking that you are giving them something of equal value, or into thinking it’s not your fault.
Politicians, faith healers, televangelists and other Creatures from Under the Rocks do this all the time.
In fact, this idea of Karma, or any of its imitations, is probably one of the ways they manage to come out on top.
I have to go and look up the old Groucho Marks saying, which Jim Moore of San Diego has as his tag line on his emails….. Jim? Jim? Oh, OK, I’ll look through the old emails…
Well, we certainly make every effort to make it true.
However, there’s nothing to indicate that this goes beyond social self-regulation to actual karmic retribution.
