Is this the best the Republicans can do?

It turns out Jindal was lying about the Katrina story he told during his response to Obama’s “State of the Union” address.

Jindal had described being in the office of Sheriff Harry Lee “during Katrina,” and hearing him yelling into the phone at a government bureaucrat who was refusing to let him send volunteer boats out to rescue stranded storm victims, because they didn’t have the necessary permits. Jindal said he told Lee, “that’s ridiculous,” prompting Lee to tell the bureaucrat that the rescue effort would go ahead and he or she could arrest both Lee and Jindal.

But that didn’t happen. Source. Hat tip: Ana.

Yah, that story didn’t exactly ‘ring true’, y’know? It could work out well for Jindal. Conservatives seem to like made-up stories.

In a word, yes. Based on cow-orkers, the faithful eat it up.

It’s important to understand that a story doesn’t have to be true in order to be “true.” It really only needs to be “truthy.”

Remind me to tell you the one about the forklift operator caught between two OSHA inspectors.

I can’t believe that they actually portray this guy as a front-runner for the presidential race in 2012. Is this really among the best they can hope for?

This is a pretty serious distortion of the truth. I really hope the media (and others) keep this afloat.

What a hypocrite: “there’s a lesson to be learned here…” Yeah, the lesson is that Republicans will lie about anything to serve their own interests.

    What a fucking ass-clown.

Virgil – I got my info from

I’m sending you to their front page because they have more than one story on this subject – it took Jindal a few attempts at “clarification” til things got settled, and they published them all.
