Absurd. I think I must object. Since this blog started on Scienceblogs.com in or about November 2007, I've written a total of 217 (and counting) 'Blogospherics" posts, which easily link on average to more than five other blogs, most of which are smaller than mine. (This does not count carnivals.)

Bloggers should be doing this all the time, and I'm sometimes quite astounded that they don't. But I've gotten used to it. People are just ... that way.

Erm ... how can you tell if a blog has less traffic than yours? I mean, for you bigshot Sciblings, I guess you can just assume pretty much all other blogs qualify, but what about us plebs? I mean, ok, maybe posting links on our low-traffic blogs to even lower-traffic blogs won't really do much, but at least it's a nice gesture. The reason I don't already do it is that I assume everyone who reads my blog also reads pretty much the same blogs I do...

Felicia, I have a similar problem. Moreover, I'm pretty sure almost any random blog I'm aware of has more traffic than mine. So I'm really not sure what to do.

I don't think it matters if a lowish traffic blog simply links to any other blog. It is all good.
You could check a technorati listing, I suppose, and use the ranking or authority to estimate traffic. But really, I would just say to link to five other blogs that you like.

I think that you can safely take a pass, because you do B.A.D 365 days a year. It's a good reminder for the rest of us. I also liked that Mike the Mad included my site in his BAD.

When I was "actively" blogging it would have been difficult to find any blog with less traffic than mine -- once I visited it.
