Lists of debunked myths common sources of new myths. As for these...

#10: The well-observed momentary hyperactivity isn't caused by the sugar, it's caused by the artificial coloring. It's easy and cheap to repeat the experiment, although I have doubts about the ethics of feeding azo dyes to kids.

#5: My kids got short teething fevers right on schedule. It was funny hearing the nurse acknowledge that they were just from teething, and so not to worry about, and then in the same breath insisting that there was no such thing as teething fevers.

#1 and bonus: Anybody who pretends living creatures are equivalent to a savings account is a quack. Metabolic rates vary for lots of reasons.

By the way, the myths list has all the hallmarks of what P.R. people call a "placement". A placement is part of a campaign in which freelance writers submit articles for publication, and get paid for successes. Most likely this one was ordered by the sugar industry; the other ten items on the list are camouflage.

Sugar industry placement? Maybe, considering that there is a pro cancer spcialist pitch: Eight decades or more of purported "anti-cancer" research and funding has failed to draw the coclusion that American diets and cancer are inextricably linked...
