During a May 28 show, one of the three hosts on KRXQ’s “Rob, Arnie & Dawn” show said he would hit his son with his shoe if he put on high heels. Another said he would tell a boy he was “a little idiot” if he asked to wear a dress.

Officials with Bank of America Corp. and Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. said Friday their companies pulled advertising because they found the comments offensive.

“We listened to the segment and the follow-up comments, and found it quite difficult to defend,” Bank of America spokesman Joe Goode said.

Representatives of Verizon Communications Inc., Nissan Motor Co. and Carl’s Jr. restaurants also said they stopped advertising.

Glad to see that there are enough people who won’t put up with that kind of nonsense to make this happen. I’d call this a sign things are moving in the right direction.

Pam’s House Blend (http://www.pamshouseblend.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=11364) contributor Autumn, and others will be appearing on the Rob, Arnie & Dawn show to talk about this issue Thursday, June 11. The radio show has issued this statement: http://robarnieanddawn.com/

But, here’s the thing: they said it. They advocated child abuse, and offered up bigotry as an excuse as to why. And when their sponsors pulled out they offered a “not” apology and will discuss whatever they have to say on air. They admitted it was offensive, but the damage has been done. I hope the advertisers stay away.

It’s a shame that it’s not socially acceptable for men to wear skirts/dresses. Many men find them comfortable and practical, and they’re not even trans-gender or cross-dressers. I’m glad those sponsors did the right thing and stopped advertising on that show.

    Chipotle is actually McDonald’s. FWIW.

Interesting. I am guessing that it was the child abuse angle that made these corporations pull their ads, but I think I should send kudos comments, emphasizing the transphobia, to Bank of America (my mortgage company) for taking a stand.
