It appears that Maine repealed the right of same sex couples to marry. (Boston Globe)

Congratulations to Maine for establishing, as the Christians have always held, that some humans are less deserving of rights than others!

“Conroy said most of the Stand for Marriage supporters are ordinary families who are worried that children will read stories about same-sex couples in schools, that teenagers will be encouraged to experiment with their sexuality, and that same-sex marriage will become widespread. She said that gays and lesbians have won antidiscrimination protections and should “leave marriage alone.’’
“No one’s antigay,’’ she said. “It’s just whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. . . . Not so fast.’’”
/facepalm
This really is disgusting.

Ms. Conroy is disgusting. We’ve won protections? DADT and lack of employment protections in many states begs to differ.
It hurts but I’m not terribly surprised. In the history of this country has there ever been a civil rights issue that was advanced by a popular vote?

Well, crap. I was feeling pretty good about this, too.
