October. The month that was.

Category: Blogospherics
Posted on: November 5, 2009 3:21 PM, by Greg Laden

Once again, it is time for a summary of last month's blogospheric activities.

October had a somewhat higher than average number of posts, but does not come close to the record of 544 in December of 2007. Although I can't reveal the numbers, October did have a record number of visits and visitors, continuing with the trend from September, with only a small portion of that being due to a social networking event in which this very very funny video got majorly stumbled upon. Nonetheless, there is a basic increase in readership indicated in the stats, to the extent that I am now willing to estimate my total regular audience at Fourteen Individuals.

The post that received the most non trivial attention was An Open Letter to Americans Who Are Annoyed at Obama's Nobel Prize. Vegetarian Diets vs. Meat was a knockoff repost that stirred extensive debate and great misunderstanding. At some point I'll re-write that again with the argument made still a different way to address the persistent questions people had.

The post Carry a gun = you get shot more often was a continuation of a discussion from the previous month about hand gun use (see also: Shoot Lots of Bullets = Don't Worry You Won't Get Shot, and I need your help picking out a tee-shirt. was about picking out tee shirts (no hidden messages there) and both were widely read and drew a lot of comments.

I also did a radio show with Desiree Schell and Omar Mouallem, which you can listen to here. I did a TV show as well, but that is not available on line yet.

And now, a compendium of all the other posts worth checking out if you missed them, by category:

That's a very good question. This great world of ours has given me too much information. 112 great blogs (actually not quite: some are webcomics, podcasts, or feeds of journalists columns) to read, and yet there's so many more I'm missing out on.

I wish there were more hours in the day.
