The House of Representatives passed health-reform legislation that included an anti-choice amendment that will seriously jeopardize women's access to abortion - making it virtually impossible for private insurance companies that participate in the new health system to offer abortion coverage to women.This would have the effect of denying women the right to use their own personal, private funds to purchase an insurance plan with abortion coverage in the new health system.
We must stop health-care reform from being enacted with this ban!

This must have caused some arguments between the two owner/operators of the Republican party; industry and religion.
Industry argued abortions are cheaper than births and the health coverage of infants is expensive while the fundamentals countered with: "Nu uh, two thousand years ago an ignorant herdsman wrote in the bible abortion was wrong (at least we think he meant to) before going out to slaughter all living things in the next village."
We must not allow women's rights to slip away.

Hold on everybody!
That nut in Michigan doesn't give a hoot holler about abortion as much as he wants attention. I did sign the petition and I added this:
Dear Sen Reid
We all know, you have got a hell of fight ahead of you, but you and all of us know, this darn bill must get passed.
I suggest beefing up HIPPA and redirect issues regarding personal safety to the states.
In short order, this whole thing is going to be before the U.S. Supreme Court anyway. Afterall, has any one stopped to consider whether or not Stupak's amendment is Constitutional? I'll bet you dollars to doughnuts it ain't.
Not by a long shot.
Give future defense Litigators enough of an outline to make this showdown possible and successful for those of us support the current policy regarding the rights of women to not only to control their bodies, but enjoy the constitutional right to privacy suggested by the 4th, 9th Amendments as well as the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments and The Declaration of Independence.
In terms of the inherent opposition implied by Natural versus Positive Law, Stupak may actually wind up doing more for Abortion Rights in this county than a Universe of progressive Democrats could have ever dreamed possible.
Incidentally, this is also the same legal research strategy I suggest those seeking Constitutional recognition of Gay Marriage take as well.
The bottom line is HCR needs to happen now. We will take care of that moron in Michigan later when one of us takes a suit all the way to the Supreme Court which I strongly suggest somebody out there enthusiastically prepare to do.
In the meantime, we need to keep our eye on the ball and swallow whatever crap we have to in order to see this thing through to completion. An awful lot of men, women and children 's lives depend on it.
And quite frankly, we would be screwed if we let them and ourselves down.

Regarding Monado's comment. Since about 50 percent of abortions result in the death of a female, it's not clear to me how decreasing the number of abortions will kill women. Abortions kill babies who will grow up to be women. Fewer abortions will therefore result in fewer female deaths.
