A commenter over at YouTube says that this is taken from a Dutch commercial -- an ad for snow tires in the form of a fake newscast. I'd like to think that's true.

On the other hand, I'm grossed out by the commenters there who say (a) it's true and (b) so funny! They're sickos (or pretending to be).

Arrggh.

If you watch this over and over again a hundred times backwards you can easily tell it is fake. It helps to hold the monitor upside down.

Looks like 'David Mabus' has been released from whichever mental institution he had been residing in.

My blog got hit by the Mabus bug too. I guess I'm moving up in the world.

It is a fake. It was part of a viral commercial for winter tyres that was leaked by the blog geenstijl.nl (page in Dutch, obviously). The full clip runs 44 seconds not 29, and you see the "victim" walking back into view after the "accident", telling how good it is to get winter tyres.

For those of you who are not familiar with Dutch TV, the "victim" is a well-known weather reporter called Piet Paulusma, who every day presents the weather for a Dutch TV station on location somewhere in the Netherlands.

I don't recall it ever having been shown on TV here in the Netherlands. It would probably have been considered too gruesome. It certainly isn't very tastefull!

At the time it was pretty obvious it was fake though. It was presented as breaking news, but you can clearly see snow in the video, and at the time it was sunny and dry at the location where the "accident" supposedly happened.
