Refusing to Medically Treat a Child for Religious Reasons

Category: Events
Posted on: December 27, 2009 4:16 PM, by Greg Laden

This will be the topic of discusiion at a new Monthly Political Meetup in Madison, WI. The first of these meetings will be with...

... Shawn Francis Peters. He will discuss public regulation of religious behavior and the current debate in Wisconsin over state law that appears to exempt parents from criminal prosecution for the death of a child when they choose prayer and other faith practices over standard medical care.

Pub Politico has a dumb web site (or a broken web site) which makes it difficult to find out the details if you don't have a computer that is the one they tested the site on, and will not allow me to copy and paste the key data from it (because it only appears in a poorly behaved vanishing popout) but as best I can tell this event will occur on January 10th. For details go here and move your mouse around until the details you want become visible. You may have to change the resolution or font size to see all the details and if you are in any way visually impaired I think you are not invited. But it looks fun.

The designer of that site needs a SERIOUS smack upside the head with a copy of section 508 of the ADA. It's not just the visually impaired that rely on a keyboard for navigation. If you MUST reach for a mouse, your site is broken.

Sorry for the rant. I HATE non accessible sites. It actually wouldn't be hard to make that one compliant.
