Feminism, skepticism and boobies

I believed people would crawl out of the woodwork to shout me down over considering acceptable the objectification of women, the “sexification” of breast cancer, and that I was going to be accused of merely wanting to save “my playthings” rather than people’s lives. You see, because I’m a guy — a heteronormative guy, at that — and boobies are therefore obviously far more important to me than the brains situated a foot and a half above them.

Don’t yell at me. Go here to complain

Thanks for the link Greg. I do so hope I get some troll traffic from it!

The marketing machine that profits off the pink ribbon crap is way worse. It makes consumerism seem like activism.

skeptifem: not only seems. I saw the CEO interviewed, and this came up, and she was quite explicit. IIRC she literally said you can combine your activism with your need to shop. (I do not remember where I saw that.)

Greg & skeptifem you just articulated what I’ve been trying to explain to other people for years about what irks me about that stuff. Yes, I’d rather support companies whose corporate philanthropy matches my vales, but mailing in your yogurt lid is not activism!
