Genie Scott explores these and other antievolution strategies in a recent speech before the Americans United for Separation of Church and State. Where: Scottsdale, AZ. When: 4/17/2011

How much does politics affect teaching evolution?

    Too much!

An awful lot. In some places and classes.

I had to reprogram my receiver yesterday after our power came back. One of the radio stations that flashed on is a local fundie station. They were starting their “science lesson”. No crap, it was “How winter disproves evolution, the big bang, and proves the Earth is 3500 years old. ”
I did not listen. You can’t overestimate the crazy.

In her April 17/11 talk in Scottsdale, AZ, Eugenie Scott said:

“There is no evidence against evolution. There is no evidence against the idea that livings things shared common ancestry. All of the evidence that we have from biogeography, from comparative anatomy, from genetics, from the fossil record, from any number of different sources, that all is very compatible and pointing very clearly to the inference that living things had common ancestors. Nothing out there is running a big neon light saying, ‘Whoa! Evolution fails here! We have to toss it out!’

So what evidence would convince Eugenie (or any other evolutionist) that vertical evolution (information-building evolution) is false?

    1. As the Nobel Prize winning biochemist J. B. S. Haldane responded to an overeager Popperian when asked what evidence would falsify evolution, he responded a fossil cat in the Pre-Cambrian strata. Needless to say, the said fossil cat has yet to be found.

    2. Just before the Dover trial, scientists decoding the chimpanzee genome found the following. I’ll let Prof. Ken Miller describe what happened.

Creationism, Evolution, Education–and Politics all are interrupting each other in every factors.
If we want something pure and creative from our system so we need to differ politics from the education system and encourage the students the way they use their mind get engaged in creativity.

    “How winter disproves evolution”

    I MUST know more.
