The SSA has been nominated for the Chase Community Giving Program, which could mean as much as a quarter of a million dollars in grants. Starting today, everyone on the internet gets two votes they can use on Facebook to pick a charitable organization. The organization with the most votes gets the quater mil, the bottom 100 vote getters of the top 196 each get 10,000, and those between first palce and 86th place get amounts decreasing from 100,00 down to 20,000. So, there is a pretty good chance of SSA getting something.
As I understand it, there is the chance to vote for TWO organizations, or even more, so the suggested strategy might be to cast one vote for the SSA and one vote for something else like Camp Quest or the Foundation Beyond Belief or something.
The SSA web page explaining all this is HERE. And, if you are a school or other public place and have access to a bulletin board, you can print out and hang THIS FLYER.
The Friendly Atheist also has a description of this fund raiser HERE.
