The Google Dr. Who Game

Have you played the Dr Who game on Google yet? It’s the google logo. Which they call a “Doodle” at Google. But since this is a Dr. Who “Doodle” it’s called a “Whodle.” The Google Whodle.

The game involves going through a series of steps to retrieve each letter in the word “Google” from various points in the timey-wimey continuum. If you get ah … exterminated … by a Dalek or something, you will regenerate into the next Dr. Who.

This is the fiftieth anniversary of Dr. Who, which is funny because anniversaries are pretty much meaningless if you have a Tardis.

You know you’re desperate when you’re making blog posts on the front page of Google, as if no one would have gone there today without you telling them about it.

Thank you for your brilliant and insightful comment. I myself never, ever go to the front page of Google. I’m not sure why anyone would do that, as there are much more efficient ways to search (using Google).

    Come back soon!

Actually, I have to be told pretty often to look at the doodle at google: I search from the browser almost exclusively, and I don’t see the doodle at the top of the screen because all I see are search results.

Aside from the haters above .. It’s nice to know that someone else appreciated the Google Dr. Who game.

Wait.. Google has a front page?
Why was I not told of this? I have always used the search box…

Dan L: I often missed interesting Google Doodles because of searching from the browser and not from http://www.google.com. But then I noticed that the upper left hand corner of the search results page, where the Google logo is, usually contains a smaller, modified version of the Google Doodle. Clicking on it takes you to the main page, where you can see the full doodle. So now I look for the doodle there.

If you go to http://www.google.com/doodles, they have an archive of all their Google Doodles, including the interactive ones.

Yes I played and realized very quickly why I stopped playing games after Wolfenstein 3D – I really suck at them :)
