Tomorrow is Earth Day

The Nature Conservancy has set up a webpage where you can make a difference on Earth Day 2006 by sharing a message of hope for the planet. When you share your Earth Day message, you'll become part of the Conservancy's free online community, the Great Places Network. Also, your message may be highlighted on The Nature Conservancy's website to inspire others to make a difference!

Plus, you can download The Nature Conservancy's new nature image screensaver filled with nature photos.

I am celebrating Earth day by birding tomorrow around High Island, Anahuac NWR and Bolivar Flats with a friend of mine. I chose the birding friend with care since I am not expert and sometimes make dumb calls, i.e., I am a part-time idiot at birding and may go on duty without notice. It also is nice to bird with someone who has a Honda CRV with its standard equipment of a folding picnic table loaded just below the luggage compartment. My friend has also become one of your faithful readers here in Houston and particularly looks forward to BITN. Although the primary mission of tomorrow's trip is to see birds, we shall not neglect any butterflies that come into view.
