Today is the hottest day I've experienced in all the years I've lived in NYC. Depending on who you listen to, it is predicted to get up to somewhere between 102 and 104 degrees Fahrenheit today and, because of the high humidity, the heat index is 115 degrees. To make matters worse, the ozone levels are also quite high, so people with asthma need to be especially careful of their health.
So WNYC radio, one of the local NPR affiliates, created a flickr page, 100 Degrees of Prespiration, where NYCers can upload their photographs of how they are coping with this heat, ranging from the image that you see above to a photograph of a pub with a sign that reads "Cooling Center Happy Hour". Go there and take a peek to see how we're doing in this heat.

At first being an elder I had an image of gin in the bathtub...all he would need then would be a straw.
I am confused. I followed the link, and it was entitled: "the 100 Degrees of Perspiration: New York in Triple Digit"
So what is prespiration? Is that sweating in advance?
You spelled it the same way in all three threads. I admire your consistency.
yikes, i can't believe i did that. thanks for the correction. being a terrible typist combined with mild heat stroke will do that to a person.
the reason it was mispelled in all three entries is because i mispelled it the first time, and the editor has a "feature" that will remember other published titles that are similar to the one you are typing in, and it will automatically enter those titles for you, even when you don't want that title. for example, when i went back and fixed the spelling in the titles, i corrected them in reverse order, so when i fixed the spelling and republished, all three entries were given the same name; "100 degrees of perspiration, III" even though i did NOT want that to happen, either.
i think it's all sorted out now.
