GrrlScientist is an evolutionary biologist, ornithologist, aviculturist, birder and freelance science and nature writer. A native of the Pacific Northwest, she relocated from Seattle to NYC with her parrots after earning a BS in Microbiology (emphasis in Virology) and PhD in Zoology (Ornithology) from the University of Washington. In NYC, she was the Chapman Postdoctoral Fellow at the American Museum of Natural History for two years, pursuing part of her "dream" research project by reconstructing a molecular phylogeny of the parrots of the South Pacific islands. GrrlScientist has written a blog about science since 4 August 2004 (the early years are archived here) and was part of the original invited group of 14 "SciBlings" -- her only claim to fame. If you appreciate GrrlScientist's writing, please help her pay her living expenses by clicking on the Paypal button below and by voting for her to be the official blogger on a month long adventure in Antarctica. If you read an essay that you especially enjoyed, please nominate it for OpenLab2009.

How Democratic Are You?

Topic Categories: Politics
Posted on: November 19, 2006 12:59 PM, by "GrrlScientist"

If I had to choose between being a democrat or a rethuglican, well, I'd choose democrat, however, I am more of a rational humanist than I am anything else. But just for shits and giggles, I decided to take this quiz, now that the democrats are hanging on to control of the congress by their fingernails. Hopefully they will accomplish something of value rather than being dick-heads by completely shutting down congress as someone else did did a few years ago, just to prove their had bigger political penises than their adversaries.

You Are 80% Democrat
You have a good deal of donkey running through your blood, and you're proud to be liberal. You don't fit every Democrat stereotype, but you definitely belong in the Democrat party.

I took the republican test too. Results:
60% democrat
4% republican

24% Democrat; 8% Republican.

Both tests are too much about cliches and stereotypes about the two parties than the two parties.

I've always been a Republican-leaning secular libertarian, but with the recent rash of all-time-low nonsense and downright anti-scientific attitude from the current Republicans, I have been rethinking my allegiances, and apparently with some good cause. 36% Democrat, 8% Republican. But really interesting was the message I got from the Democrat test:

"You're a bit Democrat, and probably more liberal than you realize. If you're still voting Republican, maybe it's time that you stop. "

Too bad the test was so over the top, it's hardly something in which one should put much credit.

64% - but in the test's defense it says it's a parody and measuring stereotypes.

60% democrat; 8% republican. Interesting ... I used to be a Republican and even voted for Reagan (that was when I was young and didn't know any better). I consider myself fiscally conservative and socially liberal.

***You Are 60% Democrat***

You aren't a full fledged Democrat yet, but it's likely the party that fits you best.
You probably consider yourself an independent Democrat. You usually support the party, but you also think for yourself!

I'm 44% Democratic. I think Latin American revolutionaries are in the same category as Osama Bin Laden and Timothy McVeigh. I think the Democrats blame the media for their own failures as a party. And I think Hillary Clinton a) is unelectable, and b) would make a lousy President.

But, too bad the poll was indeed waaay over the top - the questions on the Republican poll so incredibly preposterous and leading that any attempt to spin this spoof as something actually legit could only work in outer space, while in a flying saucer, and while under the influence of magic space mushrooms.

My results: 68% Dem, 0% Repub
