This video of a "ghetto science" experiment can help people understand why smoking isn't such a good idea. Filmed in one take and completely produced in under an hour (also notice the music -- Mozart's beautiful Requiem). If you think the results are fake, go ahead and try it yourself. And if you start smoking, you are an absolute idiot. [3:28]

If it were shorter, this would be an awesome commercial.

Oh, but it was a commercial, back in the seventies. For Topol (?) toothpaste, which was specifically formulated for smokers. The commercial showed a handkerchief very similar to that brown-stained Kleenex. 'Imagine,' said the voiceover dramatically, 'what this is doing to your teeth'! I always imagined what it was doing to your lungs. Convinced ME not to smoke...

Not to endorse smoking but almost all of the tar/smoke comes back up with mucus and you swallow it. Otherwise a pack a day smoker would be dead in a matter of weeks if not days. Damn me and my toxicologist mind. The idea is right; you're putting crap in your lungs and it's still a good way of representing the 'grossness' of smoking.

I daresay that really isn't a good endorsement for smoking. It's really hard to say which is preferable, when it comes up as mucus and you swallow it, or it comes up and you don't swallow it. Either way, it is less than pleasant or attractive. Except around those who find nasty, huge gobs of greenish, brownish, brackish gunk attractive. And so foul tasting and feeling it, in one's mouth and throat. . .b
