Concisus Vitae

GrrlScientist is an evolutionary biologist, ornithologist, aviculturist, birder and freelance science and nature writer. A native of the Pacific Northwest, she relocated from Seattle to NYC with her parrots after earning a BS in Microbiology (emphasis in Virology) and PhD in Zoology (Ornithology) from the University of Washington. In NYC, she was the Chapman Postdoctoral Fellow at the American Museum of Natural History for two years, pursuing part of her "dream" research project by reconstructing a molecular phylogeny of the parrots of the South Pacific islands. GrrlScientist has written a blog about science since 4 August 2004 (the early years are archived here) and was part of the original invited group of 14 "SciBlings" -- her only claim to fame. If you appreciate GrrlScientist's writing, please help her pay her living expenses by clicking on the Paypal button below and by voting for her to be the official blogger on a month long adventure in Antarctica. If you read an essay that you especially enjoyed, please nominate it for OpenLab2009.

Online interviews with GrrlScientist: Nature Blog Network and ScienceBlogs.

GrrlScientist's banner was designed by graphic artist, Jeff Hebert, whose other work can be viewed here.

What Your Hands Say About You

What Your Hands Say About You

You are logical, analytical, and rational. You have good verbal skills.

Idealistic and dreamy, you tend toward the impractical. You have a knack for getting yourself in sticky situations.

Brainy and intelligent, you are intellectual to the point of being incomprehensible.

Your emotions tend to be nervous and potent. Your energy - both positive and negative - deeply impacts your life.

I had no idea that hands could say so many conflicting things about a person .. did you?

Hah, I got the same exact reading.

Odd timing on this quiz for me -- I shook hands with a girl tonight and she complimented me on my hands being soft. Sadly that wasn't a question on the quiz :)

Apparently my hands tell me I have good people skills. Hmmm.

And this is a bit of a bummer:

Flexible and broad minded, you can fit in to any situation. There's no telling where your life will take you.

Consistent and reliable, you like to count on structure and routine in your life.

Sorry GS, but this is just one of the most bogus of these polls I've seen yet, from the very first question (no option for ambidexterity), through every question asked relative to an undefined "average". Some of the other polls have been at least entertaining, but this one is "not even silly".
