This is another of the American Museum of Natural History's horse artworks. This piece is located at the 81st and Columbus street entrance to the museum grounds.

This horse's colors and patterning was no doubt inspired by Vincent van Gogh's masterpiece, The Starry Night (Dutch: De sterrennacht), which is one of my favorite paintings. The original painting can be viewed at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) located in NYC.

Unlike Nocturnal Landscape, which is painted, Starry Night is a tile artwork. Unfortunately, even though all the horses have been suffering the unwanted attentions of vandals, this horse has been especially targeted, as you can see from the missing tilework.

Fortunately, the vandals' damages have not progressed to the point where you can see it in this detail.

Another look at this horse artwork, which gives you an idea of the texture of the piece.

Can you tell that I love photographing these horses? This is a portrait of Starry Night for you to enjoy.
