Name This Bug!

Mystery Bug, as seen in Houston, Texas.

Anisomorpha buprestoides, a stick insect that sprays acid from its back, temporarily blinding its assailants. So don't mess with this bug if you value your eyesight!

Image Biosparite [larger].

The only identification I can think of is a stick insect, but I don't know if that is correct, nor do I have any idea what species it might be (if it is a stick insect).

It's a walkingstick insect, order Phasmida. It might even be this one.

This specimen look to be quite a bit smaller than the stick insects I have encountered. Perhaps it's in an intermediate instar stage?

I hate these things. They haunt my house in Jacksonville, Fl. One sprayed me while i was walking into my house (he was above the door), and my eyes burnt for an hour. I dont trust them.

OK, that's the blue one with the "pilot" tag. But how about the one on the right?

Ben Stein?
It looks like one of those four-legged insects mentioned in the bible.
