Concisus Vitae

GrrlScientist is an evolutionary biologist, ornithologist, aviculturist and freelance science and nature writer. A native of the Pacific Northwest, she relocated from Seattle to NYC with her parrots after earning her PhD. In NYC, she was a postdoctoral fellow for two years, reconstructing a molecular phylogeny of the parrots of the South Pacific islands. GrrlScientist has written a science blog since 4 August 2004 (the early years are archived here). GrrlScientist is currently contributing to a collaborative group blog, A Vote for Science, which focuses on the upcoming presidential election and the candidates' positions on science, medicine and technology.
