    GrrlScientist is an evolutionary biologist, ornithologist, aviculturist and freelance science and nature writer. A native of the Pacific Northwest, she relocated from Seattle to NYC with her parrots after earning her PhD. In NYC, she was a postdoctoral fellow for two years, reconstructing a molecular phylogeny of the parrots of the South Pacific islands. GrrlScientist has written a science blog since 4 August 2004 (the early years are archived here). This is wonderful. "George Bush IS a moron, but we shouldn't have pointed it out. And the fact that George Bush is a moron shouldn't reflect poorly on the American people-- it's not as if you actually elected him." I love it when someone remembers that....
