Update: Where Did I Go Today?

Since it is a holiday in the USA and my traffic was down, I spent the morning and afternoon doing things, like laundry, which are terribly boring but necessary. After I escaped the laundromat, I ended up roaming the subways and began planning a route so I could photograph the tile mosaic artworks on several subway platforms for you all to enjoy. I aborted part of my originally planned route because it was taking so long to get around, but I still managed to photograph three platforms, so stay tuned to see which of the platforms I am presenting to you tonight!

I have come up with an idea for photographing the subway art series, though. Since I am pinching my pennies, I try to combine all my subway trips with other necessary trips, to reduce the cost of transit. However, I was looking at the NYT map and realized today that I can actually photograph quite a few of the subway platforms for only $2! It does take a little planning and knowledge of the NYC subway system, but it's really not all that difficult. So I have been planning a few photographic forays into the wilds of the NYC subway system in search of artwork! This actually sounds like fuin because it relies on several things that I enjoy; maps, artwork, photography, public transit, and .. a challenge! Now, if only MTA provided wifi so I could check in at each station along the way and make this into a real "live blogging event"!

Its good that you found some low cost entertainment. After reading these posts I have taken the time to look at artwork I have seen lots of time but never really appreciated.

I remember a few years back some college kids paid only one fare and rode through the entire subway system. It took about 24hrs straight and got them on the news. The NYC subway system is interesting. One of these days I'll go to the transit museum, I think its in Brooklyn.
