Would you like a free book for birders about the birds of Sri Lanka (Ceylon)? A reader sent me a PDF for a book entitled, Endemic Birds of Sri Lanka, which includes color images (of variable quality). I have added it to my RapidShare account so anyone who is interested to receive this book can download it for free [free PDF].

Of course, there are several other free books there too, that you can download for free:

Handbook of Avian Anatomy: Nomina Anatomica Avium (Publications of the Nuttall Ornithological Club, No 23) by Julian Baumel [388 downloads]. Prepared by the International Committee on Avian Anatomical Nomenclature, a committee of the World Association of Veterinary Anatomists. This is the definitive avian anatomy book in the world, and is the most often cited by scientific publications. It currently is out of print, so is very difficult to obtain.

The Anatomical Atlas of Gallus by Mikio Yasuda. [101 downloads]. Based on the author's two decades of work on avian anatomy, this volume is an atlas of fowl anatomy and physiology. Dozens of detailed figures by the author of this bilingual (Japanese / English) volume and other specialists will assist students, teachers, and researchers in understanding fowl anatomy. If you want the book to be bound in its original cover (to save you the time of bounding the book yourself), you can always purchase it from Amazon for $215.00.

A Color Atlas of Avian Anatomy by Dr. John McLelland. [117 downloads]. This spectacular guide gives you instant access to bird anatomy for easy diagnosis and review. It is a guided tour through the external features, skeleton, and body systems of common birds. it shows normal avian anatomy so you'll find it easier to recognize abnormalities. Multiple perspectives help you identify all important features. 127 pages. Normally $89.00.

It seems like there's a limit on how much we can download. I was only able to download the Sri Lanka bird guide and the Nomina Anatomica Avium. Do you know if there's a time limit for waiting, or is this a for-good unless you rent the service limit?

Oh, belay #2, it just gave me an update, it's a time-wait thing. Thanks for putting up the files for sharing Grrrl Scientist!

Ah okay, i was unaware that there was a time-waiting requirement, but thanks for letting me know.
