The photographer writes:

I found this male House Finch and a female (maybe it was a juvenile?) gobbling up Hawthorn berries in Central Park. The fall colors of the tree compete with this bird but I think it's a draw. How about you?

Wonderful, wonderful shot. You must print it and get it framed for your place to remind you of the lovely day.

I wonder if the finch's red pigment is actually derived from its diet -- that's certainly true for a few other birds.
