OpenLab2008: It's Now Available!

Great news: as of today, Open Lab 2008 is now available for you to read and enjoy! My regular readers are aware that once again, one of my pieces was accepted in this year's OpenLab -- quite an honor since there are only three other people whose essays have managed to be included in all three volumes of OpenLab! Even more astonishing, only 50 essays, one poem and one cartoon were chosen from the more than 830 submissions to OpenLab2008.

OpenLabs are anthologies of the finest science, nature and medical writing published on the blogosphere in the previous year. None of the authors receive any moneys from the sales of these books. Instead, all funds generated through the sales of these books help defray the costs of the annual ScienceOnline conference, held every January in Durham, North Carolina. (You might recall that I was lucky enough to be one of this year's invited speakers and I am pleased to say that I was awarded fund$ that significantly helped to defray my costs of attending this meeting).

If you do not yet own these books, you can purchase OpenLab2006 and OpenLab2007 in addition to this year's edition. All books are paperbacks.

I would also like to recommend the OpenLabs as gifts to your favorite students as well as to your local library.
