Helen Keller, the American author, political activist and lecturer, and her instructor and lifelong companion, Anne Sullivan, appear in this Vitaphone newsreel from 1930. In this rare footage, Sullivan demonstrates how Helen Keller learned to talk. The final line of this footage, "I Am Not DUMB now!" is touching.

Both Annie Sullivan and Hellen Keller deserve the description "heroine"> They were both amazing examples of what humans can do with faith in themselves, each other and sheer determination. The movie telling their story "The Miracle Worker" was aptly named. People can and do create their own miracles.
Very touching indeed. :) And by random coincidence I've just auditioned for a production of The Miracle Worker.
oh, wow! how very exciting! i would love it if you report back regarding filming, etc.
