Delta Airlines sent me an email, telling me it is time to check in for my return flight to the USA, which departs tomorrow at 1140am from Frankfurt. What do you think; should I return?

I wouldn't, but then I've been looking for many years for a good opportunity to leave. I am, in fact, quite jealous of your good fortune.

Hell no! Your "beloved" NYC certainly didn't "love" you back, now did it? Enjoy your new home and husband.

Check your residency applications processes first. Using that ticket for whatever reason might set you right back to square one with the German Immigration. Of course, that comment is biassed by my own equivalent experience with the US INS back in the 70's.
I would say, no, don't use that ticket, hang on to it if it is open or get a refund before flight time if you can.
I would say we miss you here, but these lovely tubes of ours make location mostly irrelevant these days. In fact, I'm hoping you will discover new freedoms and more time for blogging.
(aside: tubes! Damn you, Ted, for foisting that image on us! For all that we laughed at you it stuck. Who knew?)

Given the hassle you had getting your birds out of the country, I think Frankfurt would have to suck mightily for you to consider trying to get them back into the USA!

Damn, she didn't go. I even bought her a return ticket to the airport as a hint.

Ummmmmm.... =)
Why did you even have a return flight? Was that cheaper or less bureaucratic? (I came to Canada on a return ticket because my dad could buy discount return tickets for his student children, but no discount singles through his work, so in my case it was actually cheaper than a full price single.)
