Who (or what) is Orac?

orac.jpg Orac is the nom de blog of a humble pseudonymous surgeon/scientist with an ego just big enough to delude himself that someone, somewhere might actually give a rodent's posterior about his miscellaneous verbal meanderings, but just barely small enough to admit to himself that few will. The Holocaust History Project fire: Thanks to all for your support!

Yesterday, after writing about the arson at the offices of the Holocaust History Project (THHP) earlier this week, I made an appeal to the blogosphere to link to THHP. My concept was thus: Since the arsonists appear to have wanted to silence THHP, I thought that it would be a fine "screw you!" to them to get as many bloggers as I could to link to THHP and increase its readership and exposure as far above what it was before as my humble efforts could produce.

And boy, did you come through! From fellow ScienceBloggers to fellow RINOs to a variety of others, lots of you have linked to THHP and the press release describing the arson. One of my favorite bloggers, David Neiwert of Orcinus, who has covered neo-Nazi movements and far right wing extremists for years, has weighed in on the attack. Heck, Socialist Swine (of Capitalist Pig vs. Socialist Swine even made up a couple of nifty buttons that you can use to link to THHP:

Consequently, I decided to start a new thread to list everyone.

Thank you all, and I'll post updates when there is new information.

Those who have linked (more to be added as I'm made aware of them):

Finally, for any I may have missed, there is Technorati and a Google Blog Search.

If I've forgotten anyone, send me a Trackback or leave a comment here! (Note, due to a serious Trackback spam problem that we've been having, all Trackbacks are moderated. Please don't get worried if you don't see your Trackback right away. I'm in the O.R. today and might not get around to approving them until this evening sometime.)

I'll post that on my blog and suggest others do the same.

I linked from my blog, as well.

Silly question here (I'm a novice to this): How do you leave a trackback? Great blog, by the way.

I'll do a post on it when I get home from work tonight...

You have friends who care about organizations such as this. Sadly, these organizations are busy refuting the inane drivel that spews from the deniers. What will happen when all the Holocaust survivors are gone? It's up to succeeding generations to keep the truth alive.

Hey Bro, started it last night but took me overnight to reflect on what I wanted to say. I'm also too inept to figure how Blogger does Trackbacks, so here's my link. You're doing great work and you can be sure that I'll go and visit the folks in December when I'm down for the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium.

Scott, the surviving generation and their children have worked hard to archive the evidence of the Holocaust. Around the world there are several Holocaust Museums and, of course, Yad Vashem.

In addition to these respositories of history, there is the Shoah Visual History Foundation which has interviewed and vdioed thousands of Survivors to record their personal stories. This project has been financed by the proceeds of Schindler's List, and Steven Speilberg. The recordings are his best work. Copies are available at several locations.

My small contribution has been to locate several survivors in my area and interview and record them. While all of the survivors are remarkable people for just surviving, several of them have stood out in my mind.

However, they are rapidly disappearing, and anyone who knows a survivor should put them in touc with SVHF.

Trackbacks don't seem to be working (either sending or receiving) in Wordpress post-1.5, so here's another post.

Urizen, the link you provided goes to a blank page. However, when I visit the main page of your blog, I see the article.

Urizen, the link you provided goes to a blank page.

That's odd--link works perfectly for me. Wordpress.com has been having some strange . . blips, over the last couple days, so I'm guessing that must have been one of them. All the more reason to start hosting elsewhere, I suppose.
