"A statement of fact cannot be insolent." The miscellaneous ramblings of a surgeon/scientist on medicine, quackery, science, pseudoscience, history, and pseudohistory (and anything else that interests him)
Orac is the nom de blog of a (not so) humble pseudonymous surgeon/scientist with an ego just big enough to delude himself that someone, somewhere might actually give a rodent's posterior about his miscellaneous verbal meanderings, but just barely small enough to admit to himself that few will. (Continued here, along with a DISCLAIMER that you should read before reading any medical discussions here.)
Orac's old Blog is archived at Archived Insolence.

Yes ... this one made my day today! How about paying with a glass of water that once contained money ... the more you dillute the water ... the more it's worth!

"Dr." MAS tried that with his million dollar prize to prove that the Randi million dollar prize exists.

Sometime tonight, your local PBS station will air a program Called The New Medicine documenting "integrative medicine" as it is being practiced in US academic medical centers. Apparently, the late Dana Reeve was taped as the host three months before her death from lung cancer.
After you recover from the incredible high of the FT coverage (very hearty congratulations on well-deserved recognition!), I wonder if you'd care to comment on the virtues and risks of CAM practices being offered in academic medical centers and NCI comprehensive cancer centers. I can argue both sides, but it seems that a lot of centers are getting into it simply to boost revenues since CAM services are paid primarily out-of-pocket and these patients are represented by a well-heeled demographic.

Hey Orac, an off-topic comment: The URL for The Inoculated Mind on the Skeptics' Circle schedule page seems to be incorrect.
