A truly unexpected eulogy

Larry Flynt: My friend, Jerry Falwell.

Strange but apparently true.

They're both businessmen.

He was a crook who cheated people out of money. Simple.

I don't think we can really call Flynt a crook...he sold sleazy stuff, but he didn't try to steal from anyone.

You don't think Flynt robbed women of their dignity?

I think they were both manipulators who played out in the media.

No. I think he is a businessman who makes and sells a product that the public wants and buys. Not exactly my thing, but it's a hell of an industry.

I would definately agree that he's big on and great at, playing the media, as was Falwell. At least Flynt's always been honest about it. I actually have a lot fo respect for Flynt, he's shameless, but with absolutely no pretense about it.

I heard that they met on Larry King and then had several meetings afterwards. And you thought that that politics makes strange bedfellows.

Not really strange they were both very alike, peddling different products. Probably of the two Larry was in his own warped and tastless way the more evangelical.

Unless he coerced women to appear in his magazine, no, I wouldn't say that. It is a woman's right to show her body, to take part in any pornographic activity she chooses; it is no-one's right to force someone to take part.

I'm sure the two of them generated much business for each other. Hustler offended the sensibilities of people who would rush off to Fallwell's ministries, and Fallwell provided notoriety to Hustler by publicizing it as an example of the moral decline of America.

They were like two professional wrestlers shaking, sweating and screaming at each other to mutual benefit.
