Respectful Insolence

"A statement of fact cannot be insolent." The miscellaneous ramblings of a surgeon/scientist on medicine, quackery, science, pseudoscience, history, and pseudohistory (and anything else that interests him)

Who (or what) is Orac?

orac.jpg Orac is the nom de blog of a (not so) humble pseudonymous surgeon/scientist with an ego just big enough to delude himself that someone, somewhere might actually give a rodent's posterior about his miscellaneous verbal meanderings, but just barely small enough to admit to himself that few will. (Continued here, along with a DISCLAIMER that you should read before reading any medical discussions here.)

Orac's old Blog is archived at Archived Insolence.

Wow. That's all I can say.

The unreconstituted Led Zeppelin geek in me is amazed. That kid can really channel Jimmy Page.

How old could that kid be? I'm guessing seven. But you know, I do believe he plays with the maturity of someone much older--eight, maybe.

Well, I don't know about the rest of you, but I now feel horribly outdone.

Sure, he can play the notes (exceptionally well), but he has no idea what they mean.

It's not the ability to play the riff that counts -- it's the ability to conjure it up in the first place. A parallel is the difference between making the first ascent of a rock-climbing route vs. following the guidebook.

The look in his eyes right at the end says it all,

Did I do it right Dad?
