I demand the sum of.....two MILLION visits! Muhahahahahaha!

Yes, I know I did that bit before, but I liked it so much that I wanted to do it again.

Sometime yesterday, this blog hit another milestone. Sometime yesterday morning, Respectful Insolence⢠recorded its 2,000,000th visitor. Unfortunately, "sometime yesterday" was while I was at work, and, due to pesky duties like meetings, I was unable to record the 2,000,000th visit for posterity, as I did for my 1,000,000th visit.

That was on January 22, 2007. To reach the 1,000,000 mark took 2 years, 1 month, and 11 days. To go from 1,000,000 visits to 2,000,000 visits took 9 months and 15 days. Nice. Even better, October was my second best month of all time with 121,582 visits, surpassed only by July (although if the usual pattern repeats itself as it did after July I'm in for a steep drop in traffic in November).

Of course, to keep me humble, P.Z. had to go and have his first million visit month ever in October. It's nice to know that I'd have to increase my traffic by more than eight-fold over my second best month ever even to be in his range.

Competitiveness of the ant against the elephant aside, what feels really odd is that the 1,000,000 visit mark was a really a big deal, a huge milestone. Now 2,000,000 passed almost unnoticed.

Well, not really.

In any case, as before, I can scarcely believe that there are that many out there who are willing to read what I regularly lay down. All I can do is thank you all for reading and hope that you keep it up.

Orac,

Congretulations. Just keep on with the excellent job you are doing. Your preceeding post examplifies it.

Mazel Tov! ;)

I'm sure it was me. Do I win anything?

Congrats to you Orac, from one of your favorite lurkers.

I'm trying to get my mom to visit my site more often, but I still think a million hits is a decade away.

Congrats.

Now you have one more visitor, who is also not your mom.

for Orac: good to know your blog gets attention, as it's a good one, and one of the few blogs I read.

Maybe if you mentioned cephalopods occasionally, you could rake in PZ's numbers!

Congrats Orac, Your labors are deeply appreciated by this laymen and two million other people, at least. It's blogs like yours, PZ's and other literate erudite members of the intelligentsia that will hopefully make a difference in this sorry old world. Keep up the fine work and many thanks.

Yeah, I noticed. Congratulations on hitting this well-deserved milestone and for all of your advice, assistance, and links over the last couple of years. Keep up the fabulous work!

Long live the Insolence!

Congratulations Orac, now I expect to see 3m in 6 months now, OK :)

Shouldn't be too difficult. One post on the subject "Handgun ownership among religious Libertarians linked to global warming!" should do.
