Respectful Insolence

"A statement of fact cannot be insolent." The miscellaneous ramblings of a surgeon/scientist on medicine, quackery, science, pseudoscience, history, and pseudohistory (and anything else that interests him)

Who (or what) is Orac?

orac.jpg Orac is the nom de blog of a (not so) humble pseudonymous surgeon/scientist with an ego just big enough to delude himself that someone, somewhere might actually give a rodent's posterior about his miscellaneous verbal meanderings, but just barely small enough to admit to himself that few will. (Continued here, along with a DISCLAIMER that you should read before reading any medical discussions here.)

Orac's old Blog is archived at Archived Insolence.

"I'll be back"...for your love!

I've noticed that a hilariously literal-minded parody of that 1980s chestnut "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Tyler has been making the rounds in the blogsophere. I was suitably amused, but I also found this new tidbit amusing.

I haven't seen the latest Terminator movie yet, but I've been a big fan of the Terminator movies since the very first one back in 1984. I even kind of liked Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. At least, it wasn't as bad as I had feared, and parts of it were pretty entertaining. However, what the Terminator movies have always lacked is one thing. That's right: A power ballad of love, which my sister made me aware of the other day.

Feel the awesomeness of this video and its fantastic lines like:

  • Judgment Day's broken my heart (sung with nuclear explosions blowing up L.A. in the background)
  • But nothing can Terminate our love.

Sorry, the SF geek in me just couldn't resist, and I'm too lazy to post anything substantive today...

Ok, this was just way too much fun. Not sure it totally busted through my depression, but holy shit - it sure cheered me up...

Nice one :-)

I also recommend the other literal videos like the Ah-Ha song and Tears for Fears' Head over Heals.

Loved Total Eclipse. Sent it off to my bro...we used to make fun of that video back in the day. Great to see it is even cornier than ever.
