Back from DC and want to let readers know I do take notice when I get email. I appreciate the interest in my wandering career path and a few folks have written regarding the FOX news piece. More than one has questioned the way I sounded with regard to my former incarnation as a pop radio personality. Well, as it was pointed out, yesterday's audio was not very good because I was on a spotty cell phone traveling into the mountains of Massachusetts on the way to marry my brother. A mile or so down the road from the call, I lost signal altogether. That said, in response to your questions, I've decided to lighten things up this Friday by sharing a sample from my days as a DJ... nothing too substantive as this is ScienceBlogs, but you can tell me - how does this compare to yesterday's clip?

Sheril,
When I read your blog, I'm reminded of what we tell our children. Try everything you can. You have and I admire all you have accomplished. And you manage to have a sense of humor about such seemingly heavy issues which makes them much more interesting to read about. In the past month, I've actually begun learning a little about climate change as a result. I hope my own daughter will have the same kind of passion in her life. Thank you.

Ironically, I've been Dorothy and Wonder Woman in Halloweens past... never Anderson Cooper though.

You are intelligent, talented and involved individual. I have read your blogs from time to time and I find them interesting and informative with an engaging style. Your writting provides a stimulative view of the situations we face. I congratulate you and encourage you to keep up your good work. I tell my children to follow their dreams. Is science broadcasting hard to break into? That could be one of the next hats you wear -- move over Ira Flatow. Maybe start an internet radio show -- if you're interested in science and politics, and are actually numerate (unlike many journalists), I'm sure you could find lots of willing guests.
It's too bad the background music in that clip is a Snoop Dogg song about pimps and hos. (Nothing against rap, just the degenerate post-1991 stuff.)

Science radio would be fun, but I don't know how to break into that... I had expected some readers might leave comments teasing me about this sample and have to admit I'm a bit surprised you guys were so polite. Thanks.
Agnostic, I'm mostly with you re post-'91 hip hop. Though some newer albums (like Black Star by Talib Kweli and Mos Def) deserve credit. As for Snoop Dogg - well, I didn't have sway on the rotation ;)
