Another Day, Another Science Blog... CORRELATIONS

Category: Framing Science
Posted on: September 28, 2007 11:34 AM, by Sheril R. Kirshenbaum

This is the true story...of eight strangers...picked to share a new science blog...work together, and have their research and interests exposed...to find out what happens when scientists and media experts stop being esoteric...and start getting real...CORRELATIONS.

We've got a physicist, an antarctic meteorologist, an epidemiologist (and fellow SciBling), a producer, a climate scientist, a television host, a writer, and your resident blogger who finds herself somewhere in the space between science, policy, and media.

Nate dea, quo fata trahunt retrahuntque, sequamur

'Let us follow wherever the fates take us, there and back again.'

Of course, wherever I wander, The Intersection remains home.

Correlations World Premiere October 3rd! Stay Tuned...

P.S. I detect some changes in 'The Intersection's' look....

Wow! Congratulations. 1 year and 2 blogs? I just started a blog myself and I hope that more than 100 people read it in year :-)

So... given the Real World pastiche you've got going on in the post there.... are we all going to be put into a house in some random city, and given various tasks to do? This is going to be even more fun that I'd anticipated!

We can only hope Clifford! The folks at Wired Science and PBS could probably have a field day dreaming up some interesting group challenges for Team Correlations involving everyone's expertises... perhaps Survivor meets The Real World.

I think that there's a tv show to be made here. Any producers want to give us a call and shape the idea? Get in touch! We can pitch it to PBS or some other channel!!

Cheers,

Or better yet, you all could reverse the trend of the past... I don't know, 13 years or so, and create a Real World show that doesn't involve gimmicks, challenges, or overarching projects.

Who's really going to argue that the first four seasons of The Real World weren't the best? I haven't watched it in forever because of the forced teamwork.

Scientists are a pretty loony bunch, so a lot of the entertainment would write itself. It's only when the casting directors restricted the housemates to 18-24 year-olds who are Abercrombie models, that they needed to force a storyline with the projects and challenges.

Probably doesn't really mean anything, but...

Lately there sure seems to be a a lot of photos of Sheril popping up on this blog. ;^}

Why did you omit the "nate dea" part? ("son of a goddess", i.e. Aeneas).

An oversight on my part... Thanks andreas! ;)
