Don't Mess With NEPA

Category: ConservationMarine Science
Posted on: December 10, 2008 10:33 AM, by Sheril R. Kirshenbaum

bush%20frustrated.pngThis time, it's personal.

There is no question fisheries are in serious trouble and Bush is hoping to loosen rules under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) that govern the environmental review process surrounding catch limits. The proposed 11th hour changes would weaken the Magnuson-Stevens Act (a bill I was intimately involved with in 2006).

Stay vigilant folks. Oceans--not special interest groups--need protection.

Although the Bush administration gets higher marks for what seems to be a more orderly transition into the Obama Presidency, they still remain on the 'sneak attack'.
Never let your guard down until they are gone!!
And still watch..but with far less trepidation.

Very disheartening news, considering the hard work folks at NOAA, in particular, have done in support of the reauthorized Magnuson.

These guys are determined to drop every turd in the space they possibly can, aren't they? That's the Bush legacy - a truckload of turds dumped on the American people - illegal wars that destroy whole nations, kill hundreds of thousands, and displace millions - a sacked economy, and a trashed environment.

Oh, yeah, and the bill for all of it.

Gee, thanks, Georgie.
