The Egyptian goddess Isis was celebrated as the ideal wife and mother. The blogger known as Dr. Isis has some fancy-sounding degrees and is a physiologist at a major research university working on some terribly impressive stuff. She blogs about balancing her research career with the demands of raising small children, how to succeed as a woman in academia, and anything else she finds interesting. Also, she blogs about shoes. In fact, she blogs a lot about shoes.

...And behold, he raised the motherfucking Jameson on high as Isis bedecked her feet in glory, and the masses were sated. -- The Holy Gospel According to PhysioProf

An Update on Dr. Isis's Winter Fitness.....

Category: Ass Shaking Jams
Posted on: December 31, 2008 11:24 AM, by Isis the Scientist

Thank you to all of you for your suggestions on how to get over my winter time fitness hump. Your suggestions are fantastic. However, the ScienceBlogs intern totally pwns the internet in suggesting that I adapt this as my fitness routine:

Video 1: Are you kidding me?!?!?! Dr. Isis is totally in for this. The shoes? The little leotards? Why am I still running in sweats?!?!

I adore you, intern. You are one amazing lady.

Hawt (as my students would say). Although I think it might have given me a seizure.

Yelle is all kinds of awesome. One of my favorite albums from 2008. Her live show is hyperkinetic dance-a-thon. And, she has crazy, mad fashion skills.

I, too, love shoes although of the male variety.

Nice video. Except, of course, Dr.Isis would be way hotter.

If you're still thinking about how to make the treadmill suck less, I'll add what works for me: interval training. Sprint a minute, recover 90 seconds, repeat for 30 min. I get tired faster, and it's way less boring. Some treadmills have programs to make this easy, but not all.
