It has come to my attention that there may have been an impostor posing as Isis at the recent ScienceOnline'09 conference. Apparently there was one young, hot female scientist-in-training strutting around in a fantastic pair of shoes and she was asked if she is Isis. While I assure you she is not Isis, I am thrilled that her interactions with all of the other totally hot science bloggers in attendance encouraged her to start her own blog. I have been stalking reading it for the last few days and I think this delicious little dish may be quite the gem.
The Extrovert Scientist describes herself thusly:
Non-traditional. That pretty much sums up my life. How so you ask? Well, I'm 27 and an undergraduate student. I am a single mother of 2 (hence, the 27 and undergrad part) and I'm an hispanic woman in the sciences. To top it off, I love people yet I love working in the lab. I've got more tattoos and piercings than anyone I know that has a degree (not counting art majors!). I'm eclectic. I never fit the standard, no matter what group of people I'm with. That's OK by me, though. I see things from a different perspective. So we can talk about buddhism or opera or chemistry... I always have a little something to say about everything.
I created this blog with the intent of sharing my experiences as a mother, a student, and a scientist. I'll also throw in my thoughts on people and culture. It'll be a hodge-podge, I suppose!
This sounds right up my alley! Please go wish her a very warm welcome to the blogosphere.
Pero portate bien, Extrovert Scientist. If I learn you're masquerading as Isis again, we're going to have to have a talk....

I have to say it's been an exciting day on in the blogosphere for me! Thanks a bunch for everyone who came to read my humble little blog.
To Academic, believe it or not, I had never read Dr. Isis' blog until today! It took me a couple days to sort out all the characters I had heard about at the conference. Honestly, I wish I would have gotten into all this sooner because her blog is quite fascinating and entertaining. I believe that perhaps Dr. Isis and I have a couple things in common (like smokin' hot shoes!).
Dr. Isis, I will surely attend SciOnline next year, this time with a blog of my own, and I'll be sure to chat you up about the marvelous shoes you and I will be wearing!
