The Egyptian goddess Isis was celebrated as the ideal wife and mother. The blogger known as Dr. Isis has some fancy-sounding degrees and is a physiologist at a major research university working on some terribly impressive stuff. She blogs about balancing her research career with the demands of raising small children, how to succeed as a woman in academia, and anything else she finds interesting. Also, she blogs about shoes. In fact, she blogs a lot about shoes.

...And behold, he raised the motherfucking Jameson on high as Isis bedecked her feet in glory, and the masses were sated. -- The Holy Gospel According to PhysioProf

Lessons from Little Isis

Category: Little Isis
Posted on: January 3, 2009 7:59 PM, by Isis the Scientist

Tonight at dinner Little Isis held up his piece of asparagus and told me proudly, "Broccoli's penis!"

We are now off to play Soul Train and shake our booties like rockstars.

The kid's a genius. No seriously. That's really awesome that he can demonstrate such a creative and wonderful application of abstract reasoning. Cheers to little Isis. I will never see asparagus in the same way again.

Ha! Love what kids say (usually). Just before she was 2 my daughter unexpectedly wandered into our room when I was getting dressed, gave me a curious look and then said "Daddy.... what happened to your vagina?" Difficult question to answer as you can imagine.

I love both asparagus and you suck at photoshop! Only the presence of broccoli prevented this attaining the status of best post ever.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOMmmgggg Goddess!! "You suck at Photoshop" just made my morning! I love this symbiosis. You learn 133t speak and tune into French pop videos. I get to learn Photoshop in my favorite way - by LOLing! I am not hooked on this series.
