This comes from loyal reader and friend of the blog x-ine whose name, coincidentally, reminds me of "x-tina" and makes me wonder if she wears assless leather chaps. I'm just saying.
Video 1: The original x-tina.
x-ine writes:
Dearest Dr. Isis,As one of your faithful readers and a devoted underling, I have come to you bearing a gift: a hot shoe.
A friend of mine works as an editor of a fashion magazine called LouLou and she blogs on their website about a variety of things, including the latest trends. Her last post included these elegant shoes and I immediately thought of you.
I would be honoured if you would consider them a contender in your Hot Shoes of the Week series.
They are far from affordable, but boy oh boy are they lovely.
Hope you like them,
Best,
x-ine
x-ine, my dearest, I adore you and I am so thrilled that you thought of me. You are totally hot. Those shoes though....Dr. Isis can only give them a hearty "oh noes." I want to like them, I generally like Gucci, but if I worry that if I wear them someone if going to ask me to "bring out the gimp."

Figure 1: The original gimp.
But that blog, x-ine is generally quite hot and there are some tasty shoes. I'm adding it to the non-science blogroll and I adore you.

um... yes, "oh noes" is my response too! But what do I know? I thought gimp was photo-editing software.

x-ine is my labmate! We think shoes are very important in our group, be they lab appropriate, or appropriate for mucking around our field sites up north...

Agreed - they do teeter on the edge of Dominatrix - which is precisely why I like them. Not for everyday use of course!
Also - I don't own assless leather chaps, but I would get them if I had those shoes. Heh.
Finally, Dr. Isis - I adore you too!
Much love.

X-tina! So THAT'S where the Incognito U. cheerleaders got their moves. And some of the cheerleader girls (grrls?) dance like that, too.

Isis ... ALL chaps are assless (speaking of the leather garments worn by cowboys, not the British male) because if they weren't, the chafing would be unbearable.
That said, you have lost your bookmark on my browser because you seem to be concentrating more on being more vulgar than science-y lately.

For once, I'm definitely with the goddess with regard to shoes! Oh noes, indeed!

x-ine and LadyLaptop, I adore you. You women are blog r-izzz-olled!

Tsu Dho Nimh is right about this: by definition chaps are assless which is why they are so sexy on either gender! In this particular case (in the video apparently choreographed by Michael Jackson), they are crotchless.
OTOH, ignore Nimh's carping about loosing your bearings. :)

The shoes are not for me at this point. I would have worn knock-offs of them a few years back without thinking about it. But I hit some stores last week in Chicago and tried on some of these multiple ankle straps sandles, and they just don't work on my less than astronomical legs.
Instead I now have a pair of tiger striped patent sling backs. I have never seen tiger print before, and I considered them an omen for the Missouri Tigers in the NCAA tournament. So far both the shoes and the team are rocking.

I think that they may look significantly less kinky while worn.
