The Egyptian goddess Isis was celebrated as the ideal wife and mother. The blogger known as Dr. Isis has some fancy-sounding degrees and is a physiologist at a major research university working on some terribly impressive stuff. She blogs about balancing her research career with the demands of raising small children, how to succeed as a woman in academia, and anything else she finds interesting. Also, she blogs about shoes. In fact, she blogs a lot about shoes.

...And behold, he raised the motherfucking Jameson on high as Isis bedecked her feet in glory, and the masses were sated. -- The Holy Gospel According to PhysioProf

An Open Letter...

Category: Lovely Sciblings
Posted on: May 13, 2009 9:33 AM, by Isis the Scientist

...to the men who preserved my sanity this week,

Dear Abel and PhysioProf,

Sunday night I emailed you both, completely overwhelmed by the week ahead of me. Knowing that my little muffins demand a daily sacrifice, I essentially begged you to hold things down for me for a few days so that I could finish a major project I have been working on and also get some sleep. The sleep was key. I am an infinitely more sane person after a couple hours of zzzzzs.

I feel very fortunate to have such talented and generous friends. Thank you for taking care of my little chickens while I was away and offering them sufficient shenanigans to keep them amused. I love you both very much and will retake the helm this afternoon to continue the hilarity. Mama's got some Photoshopping to do...

XOXOXOX,
Isis the Scientist

The "goddess" thing: yur doin it wrong. The sacrifices are supposed to go the other way.

Of course, that would put a rather different complexion on asking someone to volunteer ...

iGoddess, you are too sweet and kind, particularly since I think I got more out of this deal than you. This was a total blast and I wrote you and your little chickens a big thank-you comment.

Since being associated with you has been such a boost to my own blog traffic at Terra Sig, I thought I'd put the thank-you link up there (instead of reproducing the comment) to return the favor.

You invite me back anytime - I loves me the Isis peeps.

You should take Abel Pharmboy on his pledge anytime. As to your other choice for a guest blogger, I would think twice before offering him filling for you again.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!

Seriously, dude, please tell me that you are not so completely addled that you actually believe that there is a single person on the entire fucking Internet that gives a single flying fuck about what "you would think"??

Do you get that you are, at best, a laughing stock? And at worst, you are a vile, misogynistic sociopath?

I really don't understand your mindset of obsessively engaging with a community of people who are disgusted by you. What is lacking in your own life that makes you keep doing this?
