The Egyptian goddess Isis was celebrated as the ideal wife and mother. The blogger known as Dr. Isis has some fancy-sounding degrees and is a physiologist at a major research university working on some terribly impressive stuff. She blogs about balancing her research career with the demands of raising small children, how to succeed as a woman in academia, and anything else she finds interesting. Also, she blogs about shoes. In fact, she blogs a lot about shoes.

...And behold, he raised the motherfucking Jameson on high as Isis bedecked her feet in glory, and the masses were sated. -- The Holy Gospel According to PhysioProf

On Why Girls are Just Not as Smart as Boys

Posted on: May 26, 2009 12:07 PM, by Isis the Scientist

Sheril Kirshenbaum, who I adore as my one true blogging BFF and the only woman with a smile hotter than mine, has written me a letter over at The Intersection.

Sheril, ideally I would answer your query while we sat around in our pajamas, watching old episodes of Growing Pains, eating brownies, and drinking Pinot Noir, but I fear that is not the be this week.

Figure 1:  Isis and Sheril discuss gender disparity.  Isis and Sheril are both the totally hot ones.  I feel like Dora needs a female friend...

So, I shall have to settle for the second best option.  I'll think about it tonight, answer a quesiton from ScienceWoman about generally being hot (and, in this case, warm) and then tomorrow I'll get back at you, blog sister.

XOXOXO,

Isis

What are those...objects...you two are holding up? The one on the left looks to be freshly butchered veal, but the color on the other one is somehow off.

Oh, wait, I know!

They're the carcasses of the shaved cats you just dissected to teach the undergrads about comparative anatomy!

Hey, these questions are of vast importance!

If, indeed, it turns out that "boys are smarter than girls" then Billy the 14-year-old third grader is smarter than Jill, who just took top international honors at the Intel science fair. After all, we wouldn't want Jill to get uppity or anything.
