I get a lot offers for free stuff from people hoping I will promote their product/book/erectile dysfunction product on my blog. I don't usually take advantage of them because accepting swag also usually means giving up my pseudonymity. Also, I have no problem maintaining an erection.
[For the record, though. I will totally blow my pseudonymity if Hyundai would like to offer me a free Genesis. I think they are cute and I will take mine in black.]
But, earlier today I received an email I wanted to share with you.
I checked them out and they seem to be manufacturers of those sheepskin boots that many of us see on the feet of every female student in the winter, paired with leggings and a North Face fleece. I have, on a number of occasions, scoffed at such attire. I won't lie, though. After my first real winter this year, I eyeballed them longingly once or twice. Here's a sample pair from Whooga:Hi
I just came across your site isisthescientist.blogspot.com and I'm not sure if you would be interested but I created a gift card for your readers which gives them $30 USD to spend on our website.
All your readers need to do is visit our website at www.whooga.com and enter the code ISISTHESCI into the box in the cart. There are no conditions on it and we do ship to all countries.
Best Wishes,
Alicia
So, if you're in the market for such boots, you'll get $30 off for being one of my readers.
As disclaimer-y type information, I have not been offered anything for free by this company (bitches) and I receive no portion of any sale of anything. Mama's just passing along the info, little chickens.

The stuff students wear never ceases to amaze me.

There are ways of keeping your feet warm in the winter without wearing drab sheepskin-lined rainboots.

I can't believe that you of all people are enabling such footwear.
It's a sad, sad day.

The Weave one is cute - but no point having any of these in Florida...

The boots themselves are not the problem; it is what students choose to pair them with.

JUST. SAY. NO.
NO.
NO.

i agree with academic, the boots themselves would be great. at home, with a cup of tea and bar of chocolate. not in public with a miniskirt!

Male here. Fashion victim. I do not get selling winder shoes when we are approaching summer. Shouldn't this be offered in the fall?

@patchi: yeah, the weave one (especially in pink!) is cute. That's it. Otherwise just say no!!! I would not even deign to wear the other ones at home.
@Danimal: we've been having unseasonably cold weather here in LA. If I didn't know any better, I'd think I was in San Francisco in March. Brrrr...

Isis
That is very generous of you, but please resist their allure. I never, let me repeat, NEVER want to see you featured on Go Fug Yourself

Those are Ugg boots.
They've been worn for years as Australian bedroom slippers.
A few years back, someone tried marketing them to America as trendy fashion wear, mostly as a joke but also as an experiment to see if Americans are gullible to believe anything.
That person is very rich.
For $30 US, you can get a pair of Ugg boots for free from a local tanner, and still have change left over.
